Give someone the front page of the day they arrived. We set the real events of their birth date in vintage type and write the lead story about them. The page is on screen in about a minute, and you can make and download the whole front page free.
Pick their birth date and the page fills with what actually happened: the news, the sport, the science, the culture. The year also sets the era of the paper, so a 1958 page reads and looks like 1958, not like today.
Their name goes in the headline and their story runs above the fold, written in the tone you choose, from warm to wry to formal.
Year-dated editions also carry the record that topped the charts that week and the film that led the box office, taken from real chart and box-office records rather than invented.
The birth year does as much work here as the date. It sets the paper's era, down to the typefaces, the diction and the prices in the small ads, so a newspaper from the year you were born reads like that year rather than like today in an old font. Choose 1964 and you get 1964, from the headlines down to what a pint cost.
A 40th, 50th, 60th, 80th: the further back the date, the stranger and more charming the page. Looking at the world someone was born into is a very different gift from a card that says the number.
Their name and their birth date. A photo and a few details about them are optional and make the lead story sharper.
Send a private reveal link so they unwrap the edition online with your note attached, or download the page as a PDF or an image and give it your own way.

The lead story is about the birthday person. Everything around it is the real news of the day they were born, plus the chart and box-office records for that week when the year is known.
Yes, and the year matters too. The month and day decide which events fill the page; the year sets the era the paper is written and styled in.
The story questions are optional and skippable. With just a name and a date you still get a full front page and a lead story about them.
Yes. Enter your own name and birth date and the lead story is written about you. The rest of the page is the real news of the day you were born, the same as a page made for someone else.
No. It is a new page composed today from real events of that date, made to look and read like a paper of the period. It is not an archival reproduction.
There are two ways. Archive sellers will post you an original printed copy of a real paper from that date, for a fee. Or you can make a new front page of that date here, free and in about a minute: the real events of the day, set as a period paper, with the lead story about the birthday person.
Yes. Upload an image under 3MB and it runs with the lead story in vintage print. You confirm you have the right to use the person's details and photo before the page is typeset.
Yes. A recent date has plenty of news on it; the page just reads as a modern paper rather than a period one.
Yes. You can make the page, read every word of it, and download it without paying anything. There is no trial, no watermark and no charge at the end.
Yes. The finished page downloads as a PDF or as a PNG image, free and with no watermark. Both are high resolution, so the page prints cleanly at home or at a print shop and holds up in a frame.
Not a blank template, and you do not need one. The page fills itself with the real news of the birth date, so there is nothing to research and nothing to lay out. If you would rather write every word yourself, the newspaper generator starts from an empty front page instead.
No. It is one front page: the day they were born, complete and readable. The bound birthday newspaper books sold elsewhere are archival reprints of whole papers. This is a single page, composed today from the real events of that date, and it costs nothing.
No. The edition is a digital download. It is a high-resolution file, so printing it at a local shop and framing it works well, but the printing is yours to arrange.
Yes. The page is composed from the real events of that date as they were reported around the world, so a birth date in Australia or Britain fills the same way as one in the United States. It is not drawn from any single country's newspaper archive. A personalised birthday newspaper for a UK birth date is built exactly the same way, and the download works from anywhere.
